BEIJING – Art Bites

Art Bites

When I came up with ART BITES I was fascinated from double and many meanings about this title, something fun , and strong at same time. We can think in terms of SOUND BITES or MEGA BITES and so on , but it also suggest that the art has teeth, it something alive, vital, provocative, like an animal that can bite you and even a little sexy, like ‘love bites’. Of course, literal meanings are not too important for show titles anyway; they should be subtle, suggestive, leaving room for subjective interpretation on the part of the viewer, like poetry as opposed to prose. And above all, they should be catchy, like the hook in a pop rock song, which ART BITES is.

I asked the artists to focus their attention on physically petite works. -Let’s have an art bite!- is the ‘motto’ through which art is compared to food, and pleasure of taste; metaphorically involving all the physical and abstract senses to feel the sweetness and the bitterness of art. Art Bites is an exhibition devoid of conventional notions, but rather a body of work that reflects the unique process of creation from each of the artists.

The theme is structured like a journey, where the works take different fragmented forms in relation to a state of perennial transition, a process of transformation and movement. Through the concept of ‘ART BITES’ artists reconsidered traditional paradigms of daily life and fed them into a wonderful world of imagination.
